📘 CAM FAQ – Common Questions & Troubleshooting

1. Connection & Setup Issues

❓ Connect Failed

Connection failure is usually caused by one of the following reasons. Please check them one by one:

  • Incorrect Wi-Fi password
    Make sure the Wi-Fi password was entered correctly during setup.
  • Using a 5GHz Wi-Fi network
    CAM only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.During setup, your phone must be connected to a 2.4GHz networkAfter setup, your phone may switch to 5GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data
  • Device is too far from the router
    Keep the phone, CAM, and router within 6 feet (2 meters) during setup.
  • Unstable Wi-Fi network
    Public Wi-Fi or networks with device limits may cause setup failure.
    Please try a stable home Wi-Fi network.
  • Phone is not connected to the internet
    Some phones do not automatically switch networks.
    Make sure your phone has an active internet connection.

❓ Connect Timeout

If connection times out, please check the following:

  • CAM is not powered on
    Reconnect CAM to a power source.
  • Router has no internet connection
    Restart your router.
    After the router is fully powered on (about 2 minutes), restart CAM.
  • Wi-Fi name or password was changed
    If your router’s name or password has changed, CAM must be set up again.
  • Phone is offline
    Ensure your phone is connected to the internet.
  • Power outage occurred
    CAM may start faster than the router and fail to find the Wi-Fi signal.
    Simply restart CAM.


 App Permissions & Setup

❓ Cannot enter pairing countdown

The app does not have Local Network permission enabled.
Please enable Local Network access for the app in your phone’s system settings.

❓ Bluetooth pairing does not appear

Please confirm:

  1. Your CAM is a Bluetooth version
  2. Bluetooth permission is enabled for the app
  3. CAM has not already been connected to Wi-Fi
    (Bluetooth pairing will not appear if the device is already set up)

❓ Wi-Fi list is empty

The app does not have Location permission enabled.
Please enable Location access in your phone’s system settings.

❓ Do I need a Micro SD card?

  • Without an SD card
    ✔ Live view only
    ✖ No video recording
  • With a Micro SD card installed
    ✔ Videos can be recorded and saved

❓ Storage reference (128GB SD card):

  • Typical use: ~20 days
  • Low-motion scenes (walls, floors): up to ~40 days
  • High-motion scenes (people, parties): ~10 days

📌 For best performance, we recommend using the official CAM SD card.

4. Using CAM Without Internet

❓ Can CAM work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. CAM supports three operating modes:

  1. Offline Recording ModeAutomatically records to SD card after power-onVideos must be viewed by removing the SD card and using a computer
  2. Direct Wi-Fi Connection ModeCAM creates its own Wi-Fi hotspotConnect your phone directly to CAM to view live footageShort-range use only (up to 100 ft / 30 m in open areas)
  3. Remote Monitoring Mode (Internet Connected)CAM connects to the internetView live footage from anywhere in the world

👉 Even without Wi-Fi, CAM can still be used via SD card or direct Wi-Fi connection.

5. Privacy & Data Security

❓ Does CAM support cloud storage?

No.
To better protect user privacy, cloud storage is disabled.

❓ Is my video data secure?

Yes. We take privacy seriously:

  1. All video data is encrypted during transmission
  2. No cloud storage, reducing the risk of data leaks

❓ Can someone else view my camera?

A third party would need both of the following:

  1. The CAMDUCK App
  2. Your Wi-Fi network name and password

As long as you do not share this information, others cannot access your camera.
